Health Care

The third major activity is running of the Hariharananda Charitable Health Centers which provide free general health and dental services in its OPD centers at Balighai, Puri district and Bhisindipur, West Medinipur district and subsidized general health and dental services at it Jagatpur OPD center in Cuttack District. Besides these OPDs, the Mission also carries out free mobile general health camps, specialized camps and dental camps in urban slums and rural areas and Village Health Projects in various areas that has little or no access to medical facilities.

Beloved Gurudev, Baba Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji served people by giving them medicines when they were sick. His strong desire to serve the sick has inspired the Mission to work in the area of healthcare for the benefit of the masses.

Health activities first started by offering allopathic health care services at the Mission's HQO in Jagatpur Ashram and Hariharananda Gurukulam, Balighai on 2nd and 4th July 1999, respectively under the initiative of a group of dedicated doctors and disciples. At the Jagatpur health centre, health care services were provided for 2 days a week which is now enhanced to 7 days a week. At the Balighai health centre, health care services were provided for 6 days a week which is continued till now. Today there are five health units operating in the states of Odisha and West Bengal.

HCHC is currently supported by 34 doctors and a team of paramedics.

Hariharananda Charitable Health Centre, Jagatpur

HARIHARANANDA CHARITABLE HEALTH CENTRE, JAGATPUR

  • Started on 2nd July 1999
  • Started with allopathic health care services on Tuesday and Friday every week. Today it runs seven days a week.
  • Started health camps in rural areas and urban slums of Cuttack District in 2003 which later spread to Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrakh, Keojhar, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur districts. Carried out school general camps and dental health camps in Pattamundai Block. Adopted Since 2016, due to change in government rules and regulations, health camps in Odisha have decreased.

Some of the Cases handled

  • Gangadhar Das aged about 45 years from Fakirpur, Jagatpur was suffering from diabetic foot ulcer. He came for treatment to HCHC Jagatpur on 29-2-2020. He is being treated for diabetes. His toes were amputated by surgeons at HCHC Jagatpur. His wounds were cleaned and regularly dressed. Today the wounds have healed and he is able to walk. He is still under treatment for diabetes.
  • Nirupama Kar aged about 75 years from Kendrapara district was suffering from psoriasis. She first came to HCHC Jagatpur on 3-3-2020. She was treated by our skin specialist and now she is on her way to recovery.
  • Rasmikanta Mallick aged about 33 years from Shishua near Salepur came to HCHC Jagatpur on 27-1-2020 with lypoma on his head. The lipoma was surgically removed on the same day by our surgeons at HCHC Jagatpur and regular dressing was carried out. He was completely cured on 12-02-2020.
  • Krushna Priya Mohanty, a female patient aged 53 from Choudwar came to HCHC Jagatpur 19-11-18 with maggots on her toe nail. Her wounds were cleaned and dressing was done regularly. She has been completely cured on 28-11-2018.
  • Kuni Mohanty, a female patient aged 30 years from Banika came to HCHC Jagatpur on 21-12-18 and was suffering from fibrolipomatous Polyp. She was operated on 21-12-18 and the polyp was surgically removed. After dressing and care she was completed cured on 3-1-19.
  • Shantilata Pradhan, a female patient aged 33 years from Brahmavarada suffered from a road accident on 12-12-18 on the Cuttack Chandikhol road and was brought to HCHC Jagatpur. With dressing, sutures and leg support she was complete cured on 3-1-19. She is now able to walk.

Some of the Cases handled

  • Pal a 58 year old male who is a resident of Nuapatna is suffering from rectal cancer. After having no success with treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital, he has come to VHP Athagarh and is under the treatment of Dr. Muralidhar Jena since December 2018. The patient is greatly relieved from his condition and he organized a feast in the ashram to express his gratitude to the health care provided by the Mission. Dr. Jena says he will be continuing with the medicine for another year.
  • Muralidhar Jena a 62 year old male from Birakishorepur, Athagarh suffered from paralysis as a result of uncontrolled BP. After having no success with various treatments he came to VHP Athagarh and is under the treatment of Dr. Jena since 2017. He has improved greatly and is now able to do all his daily work without any help.

  • Mobile Medical and Dental Unit Van used for dental purposes since 10th August 2003.
  • Dental chair installed in HCHC Balgihai on 3rd May 2009 (prior to that MMDU was used).
  • Dental chair installed in VHP Arua on 10th August 2010 (prior to that MMDU was used for camps in Pattamundai area).
  • Dental Services started in VHP Athargah in December 2012.
