HARIHARANANDA CHARITABLE HEALTH CENTRES

Hand-in-Hand (HIH) is an international non-profit charitable organization that has actively and generously supported the various activities of Prajnana Mission since 2001. Prajnana Mission provides free general health and dental services in its OPD centres at Balighai, Puri district and Bhishindpur, West Medinipur district. In addition, HCHC provides subsidized general health and dental services at Jagatpur, Cuttack district. Our health centre at Balighai has started Ayurveda services since September 2018 and Homeopathy services since February 2021.  

In 2014, a super specialty hospital was inaugurated in Jagatpur, Cuttack. This facility provides a wide range of services, from minor surgical procedures to the treatment of acute infections and the long-term management of chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes. Equipped with X-ray and pathology labs, the hospital offers timely diagnostic services to patients who would otherwise have to travel long distances. Specialized care in fields such as neurology, cardiology, nephrology, urology, radiology, ophthalmology, and more is also made available to those in need. During normal times, each day more than 100 patients from the nearby communities receive medical help and treatment.

At the Hariharananda Gurukulam campus in Balighai, Puri, a well-equipped pharmacy and outpatient facility cater to the local population.

Currently HCHC is managing five operational health centers in Odisha and West Bengal (Balighai, Jagatpur, Arua, Athagarh, and Bhishindpur). There are more than 30 doctors offering specialized services across all the centers. Homeopathy services are offered at Bhishindpur, Athagarh, Balighai and Arua; and, Ayurvedic healthcare services are offered at HCHC Balighai.

The monthly average of the number of people taking OPD treatment is around 7,500.

HEALTH SERVICES PROVIDED AT HCHC JAGATPUR

1. Eye OPD at HCHC Jagatpur: Eye OPD has been running once a week since October 2014 and an average 50-60 patients are being treated every week. The OPD is equipped with an eye examination chair, Keratometer and I-Chart (LCD), Auto Refractometer and Vision Drum.
2. Laboratory Services: HCHC Jagatpur has been providing laboratory services since August 2014. The laboratory is equipped with a semi auto analyzer, centrifuge machine, incubator, water bath, microscope, ESR stand, hemocytometer, refrigerator, DC counter and all necessary reagents.  In February 2016, because of added pressure due to the arrival of more patients we added another semi-automatic analyzer and a CBC machine. With increased demand on pathology a fully automatic bio-chemistry analyzer, a Na/K analyzer and a coagulant machine was procured on Aug 10, 2019. A 300 mA Xray of GE with a Fujitsu CR machine was also installed on February 14, 2020.  This has greatly benefited the patients because almost all services required at HCHC Jagatpur are now available here. The patients will now not have to spend money and time to travel to Cuttack to get an X-ray.  The following are the tests conducted in our laboratory: ECG, DC, TLC, TPC, Hb%, CBC, ESR, RBS, FBS, PPBS, PGBS, Urea, Creatinine, LFT, Total Protein, Albumin, Serum Calcium, Na+/K+, PTT, APTT, BT/CT, Lipid Profile, Uric Acid, HbA1c, ASO, RA, CRP, VDRL, MX-Test (Mantoux), Blood Grouping, WIDAL, HIV, HCV, HBSAG, TOXO, MP-ICT, MP-Slide, Urine RM, Urine Analyzer, U-BHCG/UVT, Urine BS/BP, Urine Micral, Urine C/S (culture), Stool RM, and Stool for occult blood. 
3. Dressing unit for all types of minor injuries at HCHC Jagatpur: The dressing unit is equipped with Cheatle forceps, artery forceps (straight and curved), sponge holding forceps, sinus forceps, tooth forceps, straight needles, needle holders, stitch cutters, foreign body remover, dressing table with light and a sterilizer machine. This unit handles many kinds of dressing cases such as burn cases, ulcers with maggots, gangrene, etc.
4. ECG Service: HCHC, Jagatpur has been providing ECG Service since the inception of the new HCHC building. This service assists the doctors in the diagnosis of cardiac conditions. Because of the introduction of ECG tests, patients do not have to go to diagnostic clinics for carrying out the tests.
5. Enhanced Dental Services at HCHC Jagatpur: The dental services initially were restricted to extraction, filling and scaling. With the availability of hydraulically operated dental chairs with all other necessary equipment, HCHC Jagatpur is also carrying out Root Canal Treatment.
6. X-Ray: HCHC Jagatpur has installed an X-Ray machine in 2020.
7. Minor OPD: Quite a few minor OPD cases are being handled at HCHC Jagatpur. Burn cases, diabetic foot ulcers, lipoma and other similar cases are regularly handled at HCHC Jagatpur.  
8. Haemoglobin A1c Machine: This machine is helping in monitoring the metabolism in patients with diabetes.
9. Immunoanalyzer: Immunoanalyzer is in operation for the detection of T3, T4 and TSH testing.
10. Tech Laser SS-2000: An advanced scanning laser therapeutic equipment was introduced in July 2024 for improving physiotherapy services. This instrument helps to treat larger areas than with contact treatment and it can be done automatically without the presence of an operator.
11. Dental Light Cure Machine: This instrument was purchased and put to service in July 2024 for more oral cavity illumination during the dental examination, treatment, or filling.
12. Electrolyte Analyser 3p:  This instrument is operational from February 2025. 
13. Ultra Sound Machine:  This machine is in operation since November 2025.
