Crowned, armed with a mace and a discuss, a mass of effulgence glowing everywhere, with immeasurable radiance of the Suns blazing fire, I see you who are difficult to behold. (Gita 11:17)
When a person meditates daily, deeply, and devotedly he enters into the inner sky of God consciousness. In this state one perceives beautiful, colorful, brilliant, divine illumination. The crown is on the top of the head, studded with gems, precious stones, and diamonds that reflect and radiate light.
Every spiritual seeker through deep meditation must enter into kutastha - the ajna chakra. From there one must proceed up to the sahasrara for realization. In such a state one perceives a crown of light. As a mace can be used to protect oneself from all directions, the all-pervading light coming from the crown is also a protection. After more concentration the light becomes a circular golden colored ring and in the center there is a deep blue color and a star. This is the discus. It is like being able to see millions of suns, moons, and brilliant fires simultaneously. This is the divine illumination perceived in meditation. Through such perception the sense of attachment naturally diminishes. This reality cannot be adequately expressed with words.
Arjuna perceives first hand what he had heard about, the formless all pervading, brilliant, divine illumination, which makes him realize the greatness of the Lord.
