Hand in Hand is a non-profit organization for humanitarian aid, working on projects of providing aid and free medical treatment to victims of natural calamities and creating health care facilities. The organization has three main objectives:

To provide aid to victims of natural calamities and disasters
To serve people in need of medical treatment
To make well defined contributions in the educational field

Under the auspices of Prajnana Mission, Hariharananda Matru Ashram, Arua is celebrating its third foundation day during 29-31 January 2012.

TREK FOR A CAUSE

Paramahamsa Prajnanananda has recently commented "When I see these children and how much they are achieving in their lives, it gives me so much joy. I do not think I have ever seen a group of so many children living together and being so happy and joyful. An act of charity on our part gives them an opportunity that they would not otherwise have. Human civilisation will survive better when its under-privileged children are properly taken care of and helped to grow up successfully as the future of humankind."

The school ultimately needs to accommodate 480 children and substantial investment is still required to complete construction of the school buildings and infrastructure. The purpose of the Balashram trek is to raise funds for this construction work; however previous treks have also proved to be a wonderful experience for all those that have taken part.

For more information about the 2009 Hariharananda Balashram trek the organizers have created a website at www.balashramtrek.org which gives some information about previous treks and information on the upcoming trek. Please note that the funds will go via Kriya Yoga UK to Prajnana Mission in India for Hariharananda Balashram.
