Hand in Hand USA was founded because of a tremendous need for humanitarian aid in Orissa, India that was caused by the super cyclone in the year 1999, the drought and famine in 2000, and subsequently the severe magnitude of the flood in 2001.These disasters killed thousands and displaced millions and made the life of people in the coastal region of Orissa (located on the East coast of India) very miserable and vulnerable in all aspects of life. Hand in Hand USA is made up of individuals from every walk of life.It was founded by a group of spiritually oriented people who shared a common bond in the love and joy found in meditation. We may differ in race, nationality, religious persuasions, professional training, economic status and age, but we are commonly united in our desire to selflessly aid those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Hand in Hand USA, through donations provided by its supporters, contributes financially to various humanitarian aid projects. Currently, Hand in Hand USA sponsors humanitarian works carried out through Prajnana Mission.
Hand in Hand is a non-profit organization for humanitarian aid, working on projects of providing aid and free medical treatment to victims of natural calamities and creating health care facilities. The organization has three main objectives:
- To provide aid to victims of natural calamities and disasters
- To serve people in need of medical treatment
- To make well defined contributions in the educational field
Its projects encompass school education, professional training, social service and health care in the poorest regions of India as well as medical check ups, child, youth and family welfare programs together with the provision of care for the aged, sick and handicapped.
The tireless efforts of the many dedicated volunteers of Prajnana Mission, combined with your generous support, enable us to selflessly serve the impoverished and the disadvantaged, hand in hand.
Hand In Hand USA was granted 501(c)3 status as non-profit charitable tax exempt organization in the year 2002. Our Federal Tax ID is 37-1420403.
